Nature Camp — Hamilton Summer Camps

Wentworth Nature Camp, run by HamOnt Sports, is a full-day outdoor summer camp designed for children aged 4–12 years. As one of the top nature camps in the Hamilton area, it offers a rich mix of exploration, creativity, and physical challenges that make it a standout among Hamilton summer camps.

At this kids nature camp in Hamilton, campers begin their day with drop-off between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m., and the regular camp day runs from 9:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. For families who need extra flexibility, extended care is available from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., making it very convenient for working parents.

Throughout the week, children engage in a variety of hands-on, nature-based activities. These include:

Creek time — exploring local ravines and water features, giving kids a chance to play and learn in natural water settings.
Scavenger hunts — encouraging observation and curiosity, helping campers to spot plants, insects, rocks, and other natural treasures.
Bouldering (rock climbing) — providing a fun physical challenge suited to different age groups.
Low ropes courses — fostering cooperation, trust, and problem-solving as campers navigate obstacle-style challenges.
Tie-dye and nature-themed crafts — letting campers express their creativity while staying connected to the natural world.
Water games — a refreshing, playful way to engage with water safely and joyfully.
Older or “senior” campers are also introduced to more advanced wilderness skills. These include building shelters, camouflaging, learning about fire safety, and identifying poisonous plants—skills that imbue confidence and deepen their understanding of the natural environment.

One of the core philosophies of this Nature Camp is to balance structured and unstructured time. Each day blends moments of free exploration (where kids can investigate and discover on their own) with group games to build friendships and cooperation. This dual approach helps nurture both independence and social connection.

In the event of poor weather, the camp adapts well: there’s plenty of indoor space for lunch, snacks, games, arts & crafts, and even bounce house-style activities, so campers stay engaged regardless of the forecast.

Safety and preparedness are well thought out. Campers are required to bring a packed lunch, snacks, and a refillable water bottle to stay energized throughout the day.

Registration is handled through ActivityMessenger, making the signup process easy and accessible. The camp also maintains a presence on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, allowing parents and kids to stay connected and see highlights from past seasons.

In short, Wentworth’s Nature Camp is a premier option for families looking for Hamilton summer camps that emphasize outdoor exploration and connection to nature. It’s especially appealing for parents seeking a nature camp for kids, offering a safe, structured, and fun way for children in Hamilton (and nearby Burlington) to unplug, build skills, and form friendships in the great outdoors.
